The remarkably rich whisky, already intense in flavour thanks to long maturation in American and European oak cask, is finely finessed with influences from French cuvee casks. This is the only Glenfiddich Single Malt to undergo this exceptional finishing.

For 20 years William Grant nurtured a dream to make the ‘best dram in the valley’. With the help of his family, he finally achieved that vision.

In the summer of 1886, with his seven sons and two daughters by his side, William set out to fulfil a lifelong ambition. Together they bagan building his Distillery by hand, stone by stone.

We use casks that once contained premium Caribbean rum to finish our 21 Year Old expression. It’s the details that matter. This expression spends four months finishing in Gran Reserva barrels selected by our Malt Master, adding to its distinctive and complex flavour.

Our rum finish release layers of intensity and sets this 21 Year Old apart from other whiskies.

After a single year of work it was ready and William named it Glenfiddich, Gaelic for the Valley of the Deer.
