While the majority of Champagnes are non-vintage, a vintage bottle is made from grapes sourced from a single harvest. Only around 5% of all Champagne produced is vintage.

Champagne houses will reserve the finest vines from their yearly harvest to create vintage batches. Depending on weather and environmental conditions, certain years will become known as a ‘Vintage Year’ due to a particularly successful harvest.

Typically, there are only three vintage years a decade, and they are aged in cellars for twice the time of a non-vintage bottle, for a minimum of three years.
