One of the finest types of tequila available, añejo is an extremely flavourful liquor made for slow sipping.
Añejo roughly translates from Spanish to “aged” or “matured” as it must be aged between one and three years in oak barrels before bottling. This imbues the spirit with a smooth, rich palate of vanilla and wood, not dissimilar to that found in brown liquors like bourbon.
It is primarily considered a sipping tequila but is equally as enjoyable served on the rocks with a generous squeeze of lime, mixed long with ginger beer, or in a margarita.
