A classic single malt with a unique history of experimentation, The Edge of Burnhead Wood is a remarkable bottle from The Balvenie’s esteemed Stories range.

The first Balvenie single malt made solely with ingredients from their native Dufftown estate, The Edge of Burnhead Wood is imbued with the spirit of Speyside.

Part of The Balvenie’s esteemed Stories collection, this bottle bears a unique history of experimentation and innovation. Its story began when estate manager, David Stewart, collected handfuls of heather during a walk on the edge of Burnhead Wood. Excited by the prospect of infusing their scotch whisky with an integral feature of the Scottish landscape, the Balvenie team started experimenting with adding heather to their whisky kilns in a process that would later become known as “The Heather Trials.”

These trials were a resounding success as boughs of dried heather burned beautifully in the kiln, releasing aromatic fragrances that perfectly complimented a traditional barley blend. The result is a signature Balvenie elevated with sultry echoes of woodland oak and floral perfume.

Perfect Serve – Drink neat or with a small splash of water to explore the delicate layers of this unique whisky.
