Winner of Bronze Medal, 2020 International Wine & Spirits Competition The first expression in the Balvenie Story Collection, the Balvenie 12-Year-Old American Oak was the idea of apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie. McKechnie imported virgin American Oak barrels from Kentucky and applied a deep toasty char to them. These barrels are then filled with whisky that was aged in ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of 12 years. The whisky sits and finishes in these barrels for four months, adding classic American oak flavours to the well-known Balvenie base.
