This whisky is first matured in American oak barrels before being transferred to European oak sherry casks for a second maturation. This unique style of maturation and attention-to-detail of The Balvenie can be tasted in the sip. The American oak barrels impart soft notes of vanilla into the blend, whilst the second maturation in sherry casks imparts rich spicy notes along with a depth and fullness of flavour. 17 years of aging leads to flavours of acacia, winter spice, and honeysuckle with a long, honeyed finish.
