Bénédictine D.O.M. is a classic herb liqueur originally devised in Normandy in the 16th century, still celebrated today for its inimitable flavour and unmatched luxury.
The liqueur is comprised of 27 traditional roots, herbs, and spices sourced from around the world. The precise recipe is a closely guarded secret, with angelica and saffron being the only two ingredients revealed.
The flavours are among a rich fusion of sweet, herbal depths. On the nose is aromatic orange peels, cloves, and woody perfumes, while the palate holds a light honeyed sweetness with heady notes of cardamom, ginger, almond, and oak.
Bénédictine Liqueur is thought to have been created by a monk named Dom Bernardo Vincelli who crafted a medicinal spirit for the members of his abbey. This rich history is expressed in its name, “D.O.M.”, meaning Deo Optimo Maximo or “To God, most good, most great.”
