As Phillippe Jouhaud, D’usse Sales and Marketing Director detailed to Billboard;  “While most of these brands were certainly doing the job that they were originally created to do more than 200 years ago, which was to drink Cognac ‘neat’ (i.e. sans mixers or ice) we wanted to make sure that we could create a liquid that was going to be a great Cognac to drink neat but also be an ingredient for making great cocktails.

It’s fair to say the brand has certainly achieved its goal and continue to be the cognac of choice for drinkers, including us.

  • Five parts D’usse VSOP Cognac
  • .25 parts absinthe
  • One sugar cube
  • Three dashes Angostura Bitters


  1. Rinse a chilled old-fashioned glass with the absinthe, add crushed ice and set it aside
  2. Stir the remaining ingredients over ice and set it aside
  3. Discard the ice and any excess absinthe from the prepared glass, and strain the drink into the glass
  4. Garnish with a lemon peel.
