Seven Sinful Cocktails to Impress Your Ghoulish Guests This Halloween

It’s officially Spooky Szn!

If you are hosting a party this Halloween, you will be wanting to impress your ghoulish guests with some signature spooky serves. We can’t guarantee you will unleash the demons of hell, but your guests are definitely gonna have a good time!

 

Spiked Cider

 Some would say after a cup of this hard mulled cider you may become slightly….  Spirited?

 Serves 2/3 people – double the recipe for a party-sized portion

You will need:

1 500ml bottle of Rekorderlig Apple cider

50ml Sailor Jerry Savage Apple Spiced Rum

25ml Fireball Cinnamon Liqueur

25ml lemon juice

1 whole star anise

2 whole cloves

1 large orange peel.

Method:

  • Add all ingredients to a large pan and warm gently on a low heat – don’t let it come to a boil and take off the heat once your cider starts to simmer. This should take around 5-10 minutes.
  • Take off the heat and serve up with a ladle.

 

Corpse Reviver No.2

A gin cocktail so good it will bring you back from the dead. However, four in a row will put you back in the ground.  

Makes 1

You will need:

25ml Beefeater London Dry Gin

25ml Cointreau

25ml Martini Extra Dry Vermouth

25ml lemon juice

Dash Absinthe

Method:

  • Add the absinthe to your cocktail glass with some ice to chill it down.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to a cocktail shaker and give it a good hard shake.
  • Give the absinthe a swill round in the glass to make sure its coated and then discard the ice.
  • Fine strain the cocktail into the cocktail glass and garnish with a single cherry.

 

Poison Apple

No tricks, all treats here! This sumptuous glittery cocktail will not only be a hit at any Halloween party, but will also look great on your Insta grid.

Makes 1

You Will Need:

25ml Bacardi Spiced Rum

25ml Stolichnaya Salted Karamel Vodka

100ml Apple juice

1/2 tsp Edible Gold Glitter (lustre powder)

Method:

  • Add all your ingredients to a cocktail shaker and give it a hard shake
  • Fine strain into a mulled wine glass and garnish with a slice of apple on the side of the glass

 

Pumpkin king

It’s not Halloween without a pumpkin cocktail! Can’t get enough pumpkin spice? Try Mozart’s Award Winning Pumpkin Spice Liqueur!

Makes 1

You Will Need:

50ml Cloven Hoof Spiced Rum

25ml Re’al Pumpkin Puree

75ml apple juice

15ml lemon juice

Method

  • Add all ingredients to a shaker and shake together so the puree mixes in with the liquid
  • Strain into a tumbler filled with cubed ice.

 

Alien Brain Haemorrhage

Truly not one for the faint of heart – the Alien Brain Haemorrhage was made to gross people out with its impressive effect! It may look scary, but we assure you it’s tasty!

Makes 1 Shooter

You Will Need:

10ml Archers Peach Schnapps

10ml Blue Curacao

10ml Baileys Irish Cream

3 drops Grenadine

Method:

  • In a shooter glass, add the Archers Peach Schnapps. This base acts as the ‘membrane’ for the haemorrhage!
  • Using a spoon, float the Baileys on top of the Schnapps. The heavy irish cream will slowly break through, creating a ghostly effect
  • Finally, drizzle the Blue Curacao add a few drops of grenadine on top of the shot

 

Zombie

The strongest tiki cocktail also happens to be one of the tastiest – Adapted from Don the Beachcomber’s classic 1934 recipe, its namesake has made the Zombie a classic Halloween cocktail.

An optional extra is finishing the cocktail with an open flame fire effect!

You Will Need:

45ml Golden Rum (We recommend Goslings Gold Seal Bermuda Gold)

45ml Gold Jamaican Rum (We recommend Kingston 62)

30ml Overproof Rum (Try Old J’s Tiki Fire)

15ml Golden Falernum

22.5ml lime juice

10ml grapefruit juice

1 dash Angostura Bitters

6 dashes Pernod

5ml Grenadine

(For the fire effect)

Lime Wedge

Sprinkle of cinnamon

Method:

  • Add all ingredients to an ice-filled shaker and give a good hard shake
  • Strain all ingredients into your favourite tiki mug
  • Float half a lime on top of the drink and coat with a small amount of overproof rum
  • Set the lime on fire and then sprinkle a bit of powdered cinnamon to create the famous fire effect!

(Though please be careful doing this indoors or enclosed spaces – always have a fire extinguisher at hand –  and don’t attempt this if you’ve already had a zombie!) 

 

The Headless Horseman

Our final cocktail has a bloody effect created by a grenadine drizzle!

You Will Need:

50ml Crystal Head Onyx

15ml Lime juice

Grapefruit soda (Ting or Lilt are great for this)

Drizzle Grenadine

Method:

  • In a highball glass fill with cubed ice, add the vodka, lime and grapefruit soda and give it a quick stir.
  • Drizzle the grenadine over the top so it bleeds through the drink.
