There are plenty of movies scheduled to drop in 2020, but with cinemas being relatively expensive these days (Those tango ice blast slushies are extortionate), this should help you pick which movies are worth investing your time and money into.
2019 was filled Hollywood movies with strong female leads, but make no mistake, Black Widow isn’t just going to be another one to add to the list with Scarlet Johansen in the lead role. The Marvel Universe has seen a huge amount of popularity over the past decade and there is no sign of that slowing down. Spoiler alert in case if you haven’t seen Avengers End Game (Available on YouTube to buy or rent) by now, Black Widow dies in part one, which means she will no longer be a part of future Avengers Movies along with Iron Man. Thankfully, Scarlet Johansson is returning to resume the role in a solo Marvel Comics superhero movie that fans have demanded from Marvel for years. Whilst Captain Marvel was a bit more polarising, and Morbius and the Eternals set to drop this year, Black Widow is likely to a highlight in the collection of MCU Movies coming in 2020 as the character is more popular amongst Marvel Fans.
Bad Boys for Life
One of the best Comedy Duos of all time return to our screens in the form of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence for one last ride. Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett team up once again for buddy cop movie franchise that has become a timeless classic of this generation. Joe Pantoliano returns as your second favourite fictional police captain (Captain Holt from Brooklyn Nine-Nine played by Andre Braugher will always be the best), but this time, without Michael Bay who is most notoriously known for destroying the Transformers Movie franchise. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are comedy kings that have brought us stomach tearing laughs over the years such as Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, National Security, Hancock, and Blue Streak. Bad Boys 3 will be no different being the last film in the legendary trinity of cop comedy movies. The original Bad Boys is on Netflix if you wanted to relive the original experience before watching the latest instalment.
There is nothing better than a well-cast and well-produced gangster movie, and The Gentlemen appears to be just that. British Gangsters have always been a ripe topic for directors to work with well before “Legend” starring Tom Hardy playing both Kray Twins. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the man that brought us Rock’N’Rolla, Snatch and Revolver, brings us another gangster movie to add to his film credits. With an experienced cast of Matt McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Dockery, Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell, it’s the gangster flick that could bring in a new era and bring the relic of the “Gangster Movie” into the new decade.
Saw 9 (The organ donor)
This is a must-watch for horror fans as Jigsaw is back, yet again for another game. The announcement was made by Chris Rock who is also writing the screenplay for the film. It’s currently under the working title “The Organ Donor” and the Rock (Dwayne Johnson) and Samuel L Jackson are set to play the main protagonists in the form of a cop and his father. Saw has one of the most iconic horror movie villains of all time in the form Jigsaw, up there with the likes of Freddy Krueger, Pinhead and Ghostface. The directors Mark Burg, Oren Koules have insisted this is not a sequel to the stand-alone movie “Jigsaw”, however, it is still canon with the rest of the Saw franchise. It’s still gory, its still terrifying, its still Saw.
No Time to Die
Daniel Craig takes up the enigmatic character that is James Bond for the last time. This movie marks the end of an era as well as Daniel Craig’s great run as James Bond, with Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre. With members of the original cast of Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris returning to play Q, M, and Money Penny, it still has the same feel that the 007 franchise has had since Daniel Craig took the lead role. On the other hand, there are new dynamics being introduced such as a female 00 agent in the form of Lashana Lynch who plays a new MI6 agent. Maybe No Time to Die might make you think about who the next bond will be, Idris Elba or Tom Hardy.
