The Best Daiquiri Cocktail Recipes

Daiquiri garnished with a lemon

Infused with sophistication and tropical glamour, the Daiquiri cocktail is an exquisite fusion of white rum, lime juice, and sugar syrup. This basic mix of ingredients makes the daiquiri both one of the easiest and most versatile cocktails to master at home.

Unlike many classic cocktails, we can pinpoint the exact moment the daiquiri was invented thanks to a conveniently signed and dated recipe card. The year was 1896 and an American engineer named Jennings Cox was living in Cuba as a director of the country’s iron mines. One evening, Cox was entertaining a group of friends and serving up a series of gin cocktails. On discovering that he had run out of gin, he resorted to using a bottle of white rum, souring it with lime, sweetening it with sugar syrup, and inadvertently creating one of history’s most iconic rum cocktails.

Since its turn of the century invention, the daiquiri has been transformed into endless variations and twists, some inspired by famous authors, some made with blended ice to create an exceptional boozy slushy.
